Yes. We work with landlords, directors, investors, contractors, and freelancers.
Q3: Do I need to use Xero?
No — but it helps. We can work with spreadsheets or help you migrate.
Q4: How much tax will I owe?
We calculate your liability as part of the service and advise on ways to reduce it legally.
Q5: Who can help with my self-assessment tax return in Bury?
We can. Jackson Lee Accountants is an ACCA-registered practice at 10 St Mary's Place in Bury town centre. We register you with HMRC if needed, prepare and file your return before the 31 January deadline, and explain what you owe and when. We help employees with side income, landlords, the self-employed and company directors across Bury, Radcliffe, Prestwich, Ramsbottom and Greater Manchester. Who our self assessment service in Bury is for
A tax return can feel like a big job when you only face it once a year. We prepare returns for people across Bury and Greater Manchester, and you have your own team leader who knows your affairs.
Sole traders and freelancers. You need your accounts and tax return done together, with expenses and allowances claimed properly.
Landlords. You have rental income from one or more properties and want it reported correctly. Making Tax Digital for Income Tax may also apply to you.
Company directors. You take dividends from your own company and need them reported on your personal return.
Employees with extra income. You have a PAYE job plus savings, investment or property income that HMRC needs to know about.
People who have sold property or shares. You may have a gain to report as well as your usual income. Our capital gains tax reporting service covers this.
First-timers. You have just started working for yourself and need to register with HMRC.
How it works
Getting started is simple, and you know the cost before any work begins.
1. Free consultation. Book a free 30-minute call by phone, Teams or at our office. We talk through your income and what HMRC expects from you.
2. Fixed quote. We confirm a fixed fee after a short review of your records. There are no surprises when your return is done.
3. We take over. If you already have an accountant, we contact them for the handover. If you are new to Self Assessment, we register you with HMRC.
4. Ongoing support. Each year we prepare and submit your return, tell you what to pay and when, and look for sensible tax planning.

More questions
Can you register me for Self Assessment? Yes. If you have not filed before, we can register you with HMRC. The deadline is 5 October after the end of the tax year you need to report. Registering late can make it harder to file on time, so speak to us as soon as you know you need a return.
Does Making Tax Digital for Income Tax affect me? It applies from 6 April 2026 to sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000. The threshold falls to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. If you are affected, you will need to send quarterly updates using compatible software. We can set this up and handle it for you.
Can you help if I am a company director with dividends? Yes. Many directors need a personal tax return to report dividends from their own company. We can prepare it alongside your company accounts, so your salary and dividend planning is joined up. One team handles both, rather than passing information between two firms.
Can I switch accountant part way through the year? Yes, you can switch at any time. Once you have agreed your fixed fee, we contact your current accountant for the handover and collect what we need. From the start you have your own team leader who knows your affairs and answers your questions, with Mike Jackson FCCA supporting them in the background.
